The Top 5 Pitchers You've Never Heard Of

The Top 5 Pitchers that You’ve Never Heard of

I apologize as it has been a while since my last post. A lot of baseball has been played. This year I’ve noticed a couple of names emerge as some of the better pitchers in the game. Some are new and some are old. So without further delay, let’s see who the top 5 pitchers you have never heard of are.

5) Lance Lynn - St. Louis Cardinals

Lynn has been an awesome “fix” in the Cards rotation. He’s tied for 2nd in the league in Wins right now with 10. He’s sporting a good, modest 3.23 ERA with 1.20 WHIP. Lynn was in the bullpen last year on the World Series winning team. He was brought up to the rotation when the Cardinals learned of Chris Carpenter’s debilitating injury.

4) Chris Sale - Chicago White Sox

Sale has emerged as the cornerstone of the White Sox’s rotation. He’s gone 8-2 this year with a slim 2.24 ERA. He’s 19th in the MLB in strike outs with 89. Sale has an even more slim WHIP which is 0.96. That is 6th in the MLB. Like Lynn, Sale has emerged from the White Sox’s bullpen to become a very good starter so far this year.

3) Jason Hammel - Baltimore Orioles

Hammel has been a spark for the Orioles’ surprising year so far, going 8-2. He’s bolstered an incredible 2.61 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP. He’s right behind Chris Sale being 20th in the league in strike outs with 87. In his 7th season, Hammel has really come around to being the ace of the Baltimore staff thus far.

2) Chris Capuano - Los Angeles Dodgers

Chris Capuano has been amazing for the Dodgers this year. The Dodgers have been playing awesome baseball this year, and Capuano has been part of that awesome baseball. With Chad Billingsley, Clayton Kershaw, and Aaron Harang all having decent to good years, Capuano has been a pleasant surprise making this Dodger team have a very solid rotation.

1) R.A. Dickey - New York Mets
R.A. Dickey, in his 11th season, has been an absolute terror to opposing hitters. He leads the MLB in Wins with 11. His only Loss came last night to the Bronx Bombers. He’s at the top of almost every pitching category. The knuckleball has been killing hitters and has provided Dickey with a 2.27 ERA.

So there you have the 5 pitchers you’ve never heard of. If there’s anything you would like me to blog about, please email me at
