SEC Week 5 Picks

SEC Week 5 Picks

Here we are in week five, and we have some interesting conference match-ups, including a top ten battle between Georgia and LSU and a top 25 battle between Alabama and Ole Miss.

Of course this week will feature a couple “gimme” games, but I don’t think you should discount the South Carolina/Central Florida game.  I think this game is going to be a huge test for South Carolina on the road against a hungry team that beat Penn State in Happy Valley last week.  South Carolina is going to need to take charge from the start, and those young linebackers need to step up to the test against the athletic offense the Golden Knights will be bringing.

Anyways, let’s get to the picks…

So far I am 26-6 picking the games on here straight up.  I don’t want to know where my standing against the spread is…

(12) South Carolina 38

Central Florida 24

I think this game could be ugly for the Gamecocks at the beginning, but the offense has the potential to have a big day on the ground.  Look for Mike Davis and Brandon Wilds early and often as I think Steve Spurrier will try to maintain possession of the football and keep the Golden Knights offensive attack off the field.

Tennessee 31

South Alabama 6

I think Rajon Neal and the Volunteers will be able to take out a lot of frustration against a weaker opponent in South Alabama.

(9) Georgia 31

(6) LSU 27

As much as I want this to be the other way around, I think LSU would virtually have to play flawless to pull out the win between the hedges.  I think Aaron Murray could potentially make a name for himself in the Heisman race if he has a break out game against the Tigers.

(1) Alabama 31

(21) Ole Miss 21

Ole Miss is a young, competitive football team.  I think they will make this an interesting game, and if Alabama comes out soft, look for another version of the Texas A&M game last year.  With that being said, I’m going to predict that the Tide take care of business against a weaker opponent.

(10) Texas A&M 49

Arkansas 21

Rutgers showed us last week that Arkansas isn’t back to the status they were when the Bobby Petrino fiasco happened.  Johnny Manziel is playing great and making people stop talking about his off the field issues.  The Aggies will roll in this one.

(20) Florida 24

Kentucky 6

The injury-plagued Gators will go into Lexington and pick up a “gimme.”

Missouri 38

Arkansas State 10

James Franklin and the Tigers will take care of business against a weaker opponent.

Vanderbilt 31

UAB 12

The Commodores “anchor down” in Nashville and dominate a weaker opponent.
