SEC (+3) Week 11 Picks

My SEC picks are always on point, but I need to learn how to pick my "plus 3" a little better. Last week, I picked em' 8-1. This brings my total tally up to 73-17. Again this is just straight up, as the spread would murder this record.

Everybody needs a little confidence right?
It's right around the corner though.

The final year of the BCS is destined to be dramatic. With Stanford knocking out Oregon last night, who could be more happy than Florida State. The 'Noles still need to take care of business though, as any week they could potentially hit the wall of self-defeat like Oregon.

Baylor passed a major Big 12 test in defeating the Belldozer and Bob Stoops' Oklahoma Sooners last night.

What's this going to do the polls? We will have to see how the rest of the country plays out Saturday and try to make sense from this cloud of dust Sunday evening.

So let's get to our out-of-conference picks:

Virginia 17
North Carolina 23

I think this is an intriguing game in the ACC this week. North Carolina had almost begun to make a habit of seemingly donating the game to the other team. The Tarheels took back their donation against North Carolina State last weekend. I see them winning at home against a Virginia team that's coming off a thrashing at home from Clemson.

Michigan 13
Nebraska 27

I think this game will be decided by a couple scores, even with it being in Michigan. I just can't seem to get over how pitiful Michigan's offense is this year, even with some of the weapons they possess. Devin Gardner has been a turnover machine this year, and it just seems likes he is forcing it. If you haven't read about the allegations against Nebraska Head Coach Bo Pelini's brother, it is quite interesting.

Virginia Tech 21
Miami 31

The Hokies travel to Miami to play the 'Canes the week after they were just the next victim in line for Florida State. This game was relevant on the schedule at the beginning of the season, but with Virginia Tech dropping too many conference games, I think most of the relevancy has been lost. If the Hurricanes can take care of business for the rest of the season, they should expect to get one more shot at Florida State.

Now let's move on to the SEC picks:

Vanderbilt 16
Florida 17

The grumblings of replacing Will Muschamp have started in Gainesville. I honestly don't think that Florida fans calling for his replacement are being fair, as Florida has been depleted with injuries this season. Even with the injury plague, they have still been competitive and played good on defense. I think Muschamp and the Gators find a way to edge the Commodores in a physical SEC matchup in "the Swamp" tomorrow.

Kentucky 14
(8) Missouri 34

#8 Missouri travels to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats this weekend. Gamecock fans will be praying for a miracle, but I think Mizzou is just to physical for a Wildcat team that is improving.

Tennessee 16
(9) Auburn 38

The best rushing offense travels to the worst rushing defense in the conference. This one is primed to get ugly, and Nick Marshall and Tre Mason will scamper for a lot of yards this week.

Arkansas 20
Ole Miss 42

Ole Miss will handle a desperate Arkansas team that is still looking for their first conference win.

Appalachian State 6
Georgia 31

Georgia has a different dynamic when they have running back Todd Gurley in the lineup, and Appalachian State won't be able to find any of that 2007 Big House Magic.

Mississippi State 20
(15) Texas A&M 49

Mississippi State won't be able to handle the high-flying combination of Mike Evans and Johnny Manziel, as both are playing on an elite level right now.

(13) LSU 21
(1) Alabama 45

A.J. McCarron should be talked about more as a Heisman Contender, especially if the Tide can find a way to the National Championship. He manages games among the best in the country, makes good throws, and this week he'll lead Alabama to a huge win over LSU.
