Sorry for the delay this week, folks. We're a little late posting.
Last week, Keister posted an impressive 9-1 on his picks, correctly selecting each and every SEC winner. This puts him at an overall record of 31-9, which is two games in front of my 29-11 since we started. On the blog overall this season, last week boosted me to 62-20 picking games straight up.
So, let's finally get to week eight's picks:
Furman vs. South Carolina
Keister: Gamecocks make quick work of the Paladins Saturday with no highlight plays or stats needed
The Pick: South Carolina 52 Furman 13
Griff: I've predicted the Gamecocks to run the ball for the past few weeks, and in crunch time, Spurrier and his associates have just abandoned it. Let's hope they learn from their mistakes and pound the football, so Dylan Thompson can get some nice, vertical looks.
The Pick: South Carolina 45 Furman 17
(21) Texas A&M vs. (7) Alabama
Keister: This game will be up in the air most of the way, but in the end, better defense wins out and the Tuscaloosa crowd breathes a heavy sigh of relief!
The Pick: Alabama 31 Texas A&M 21
Griff: I've stretched my neck out for the Aggies the past two weeks, and I've been burned both times. Give me 'Bama.
The Pick: Alabama 24 Texas A&M 20
(10) Georgia vs. Arkansas
Keister: The trendy pick to throw off a SEC East power will still be looking for that elusive big signature win this year. In the end, too much clock control and turnover-free football defeats the Razorbacks
The Pick: Georgia 34 Arkansas 23
Griff: Arkansas is a hungry football team, after dropping some tough games this season. Hutson Mason has now replaced Jeff Driskell as the worst starting quarterback in the SEC, now that Driskell isn't starting for the Gators. I'm going with Arkansas to get tough on defense and pound the football.
The Pick: Arkansas 31 Georgia 28
Tennessee vs. (3) Ole Miss
Keister: Tennessee, much like Arkansas, is still in search of that huge win this season, but their search will continue. Too much smash mouth defense and athletic mismatches at the edges for the Rebel offense make for easy work Saturday!
The Pick: Ole Miss 38 Tennessee 17
Griff: The Rebels' defense is one of the most athletic defenses in the country this season, and that'll prove to be way too much for the Vols on Saturday. Oxford becomes turnover city.
The Pick: Ole Miss 42 Tennessee 13
Missouri vs. Florida
Keister: Great game, if your into boring college football and inconsistent quarterback play!
The Pick: Florida 20 Missouri 10
Griff: Maty Mauk's awful performance last week was created by pressure caused from Georgia's defensive front. Defense is the Gators' biggest strength, and they'll use it to exploit Maty Mauk and his offensive line a lot Saturday night.
The Pick: Florida 27 Missouri 9
Kentucky vs. LSU
Keister: Kentucky will continue to look strong with an impressive outing in Baton Rouge!
The Pick: Kentucky 30 LSU 21
Griff: Kentucky's the most-improved team in the SEC East, but a couple of costly turnovers on the road will ruin the Wildcats' day.
The Pick: LSU 38 Kentucky 27
Clemson vs. Boston College
Keister: Cole Stoudt will play surprisingly well, and the Clemson defense will be in form for another week.
The Pick: Clemson 34 Boston College 20
Griff: The Tiger defense will control the line of scrimmage and be able to limit Boston College's ground game. Clemson's going to lean on the run a little more than usual to relieve some pressure from Cole Stoudt's arm.
The Pick: Clemson 42 Boston College 23
(14) Kansas State vs. (11) Oklahoma
Keister: Oklahoma will mask themselves as a good team and look impressive in front of the Norman crowd. Trevor Knight will execute the Sooners' game plan with confidence, and quite honestly, what man wouldn't after Katy Perry calls him good looking on national television?
The Pick: Oklahoma 37 Kansas State 23
Griff: There's just too many athletes at Bob Stoops' disposal on the Sooner offense. Kansas State needs to create turnovers if they want to pull off the upset.
The Pick: Oklahoma 42 Kansas State 30
(5) Notre Dame vs. (2) Florida State
Keister: The luck of the Irish ends in Tallahassee Saturday. Outcome will not be in question by mid-way in the third quarter due to too many weapons for the 'Noles.
The Pick: Florida State 38 Notre Dame 13
Griff: Notre Dame's defensive scheme will keep this game a little closer than expected, but in the end, Jameis Winston will make plays despite the autograph controversy. The Seminoles' season falls on the his shoulders, so don't expect Florida State to make a suspension decision anytime soon.
The Pick: Florida State 24 Notre Dame 10
