Griff's MLB Bets: April 14

Here are my bet picks for April 14th: (run lines according to sportsplays.com)

Detroit Tigers (+1.5) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

The Tigers send young Shane Greene to the hill to face A.J. Burnett and the Pittsburgh Pirates. I know that the first rule of betting on baseball is to examine the pitching matchup, but I just can't go against the powerful Tigers' lineup against Burnett.

Chicago White Sox (+1.5) vs. Cleveland Indians

The pitching matchup is mediocre (Jose Quintana vs. Carlos Carrasco), but I think the White Sox might be able to use this game to possibly string together a couple wins.

Arizona Diamondbacks (+1.5) vs. San Diego Padres

The Diamondbacks put Jeremy Hellickson on the bump tomorrow against the Padres. I think that Hellickson will be able to keep Arizona in the game, as Petco Park helps the pitchers more than it does the hitters.

*Bonus Pick*

Atlanta Braves (-1.5) vs. Miami Marlins

It's not that I think that Trevor Cahill will show up as a stud for the Braves, but I do think he will be a solid addition to Atlanta's rotation. The Braves' bats have been hot so far this season, and that's not going to change tonight against Tom Koehler.
