Griff's MLB Picks: Friday, August 28

Here's my MLB picks for Friday, 8/28: (run lines from SportsPlays.com)

Detroit Tigers (+1.5) vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Tigers' lefty Matt Boyd faces off against the Blue Jays' knuckleballer R.A. Dickey in this matchup. This game doesn't present us with the best pitching matchup, but you should better believe that there's going to be some runs scored. Detroit is actually molding Boyd, where Toronto is kind of throwing Dickey out there and hope that he can just limit the damage. Give me the Tigers as underdogs in this one.

Cincinnati Reds (+1.5) vs. Milwaukee Brewers

This game presents us two teams from the basement of the NL Central. Reds' righty Raisel Iglesias goes up against the Brewers' Taylor Jungmann. Both have actually proven to be decent this season, but Iglesias has found a groove over the past month. The right-hander has only allowed one earned run in his last 19 innings, and I like him to push the Reds past the Brewers.

St. Louis Cardinals (-1.5) vs. San Francisco Giants

After the season-ending injury Cards' ace Adam Wainwright suffered in late April, St. Louis was in dire need of Michael Wacha to step into the number one spot in the starting rotation. Wacha has responded nicely, along with the rest of the Cardinals' pitching staff, to filling the huge void caused by Wainwright's injury. He's responded so nicely in fact, that he has the third-most winning decisions in the National League (15). The Cardinals' offense has flourished against Giants' righty Mike Leake in the past, and Friday will show us, yet again, why they are the best team in Major League Baseball.

Hope everyone has an awesome Friday! As always, thanks for reading and be sure to follow me on Twitter @griffaldo.
