College Football Week 5 Preview

So here we are going into week number five of SEC Football.  Every team except for Missouri and LSU are in conference play or on a bye this week.  Of my 14 games I picked last week, I went 11-3 straight up.  The scores to a few may have been slightly off.  Here we go onto week number five.  We’ll start with the SEC.

LSU 56 Towson 3

The Tigers are going to be seeking a little redemption after squeaking by Auburn last week.  Expect the Tigers to run, run, and run for probably more than 250 yards.

South Carolina 52 Kentucky 13

Kentucky won’t score the 13 I put for them while South Carolina’s first string is in, and they will be lucky to score three points the way South Carolina’s defense has been playing.  Kentucky quarterback Maxwell Smith is going to be playing in this game with a very sore right shoulder (something South Carolina fans are familiar with).  His back-ups don’t look too promising, and you have to wonder if this will be the breaking point for Joker Phillips.  South Carolina looks to get revenge in Lexington after losing there the week after beating Alabama in 2010.

Alabama 45 Ole Miss 10

Alabama is going to beat Ole Miss in every aspect of this game, while being respectable about it.  AJ McCarron has emerged as one of the elite quarterbacks in the SEC.

Missouri 21 Central Florida 20

I think Missouri is going to have to play physical, and they have to play really well on defense to win this game.  If Central Florida is able to the run the ball efficiently and often, expect them to win this game.  This will be closer than a lot of people think.

Texas A&M 31 Arkansas 27

Arkansas has probably been the biggest disappointment of the SEC this year.  After the past three weeks, I expect the Hogs to come out with a lot of emotion against Texas A&M.  I don’t think it will be enough, however.  I think A&M airs it out, and they hand the Hogs their 4th straight loss.

Georgia 35 Tennessee 20

Georgia returns two key members of their secondary, and they may be a little rusty.  Tennessee features a great air attack with Tyler Bray dropping bombs to Justin Hunter and Corey Patterson.  I expect Tennessee to score some points in this game, but I just don’t think it will be enough to beat the Bulldogs in Athens.
So now that we’ve previewed the SEC games this week, let’s throw out a few other predictions across the country.

Ohio State 24 Michigan State 21

West Virginia 31 Baylor 17

Nebraska 28 Wisconsin 10

Clemson 42 Boston College 17

Oregon State 26 Arizona 20

NC State 28 Miami 13

Cincinnati 20 Virginia Tech 17

Arizona State 21 Cal 14

And out of respect for my NCAA Baseball Tournament crazy pick, I’m going to bring the Sea Wolves out again to beat Army. (Call me crazy, again.)

Stony Brook 28 Army 24
