I was a little disappointed in my picks last week going 7-3. The one that really made me upset was the Mizzou/Vandy game, which was simply a blow out for the Tigers. I think from here on out, teams are going to have to take that offense seriously. This includes a Georgia team that sees Mizzou between the hedges this week.
Another game that bothered me was the Alabama/Georgia State game. Just when I thought I had guess how many jelly beans Alabama had put in the jar, Georgia State had to add the slightest of blemishes to a score prediction in the third quarter.
Georgia almost dropped a close one to the Vols on the road this past week, Aaron Murray showed his poise as the Bulldogs procrastinated to a victory in Knoxville.
Then, there was the Clowney fiasco.
I think Jadaveon Clowney and Steve Spurrier both did a great job of clearing the air following what seemed like a frustrating Saturday in Columbia. Clowney right now is listed as questionable, but many expect him to play. The Gamecocks overall are going to have to play better because they go into a historically tough place for them to play this week in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
So, lets start with our three non-SEC games.
(3) Clemson 49
Boston College 24
Clemson will win this one pretty easy, and I would be pretty confident in betting that Taj Boyd throws at least three touchdowns.
(2) Oregon 61
(16) Washington 28
Washington came close to making me look smart last week, but it just didn't happen. I don't think anyone is going to threaten Oregon on the road to the BCS Championship this year.
(12) Oklahoma 27
Texas 13
Oklahoma will "Bell-doze" it's way over the Horns to win the Red River Rivalry. Hank Hill will be upset.
The SEC starts off wide-open Saturday:
(25) Missouri 31
(7) Georgia 30
I think Missouri might have gotten some good tape from the Tennessee game last week. I tried to call this upset last year, and it almost worked out for me. I think James Franklin is due for a big road win in his time at Missouri, and I hope this week is the time.
(14) South Carolina 35
Arkansas 17
I think South Carolina defense looks a lot better this week, and I think they will laugh at the history books of this game. That being said, they will have to close this game out in the fourth quarter. If they don't accomplish that, then this game will be much closer. Clowney is expected to play by many.
W. Carolina 3
Auburn 42
Guz Malzahn has really breathed new life in this Auburn team, as they got a huge win last week. It makes you wonder how much credit you should give Gene Chizik for the 2010 BCS run...
(17) Florida 24
(10) LSU 34
The Bayou Bengals get their revenge on the SEC East this week. I just don't think Florida will be able to keep up.
(1) Alabama 45
Kentucky 10
The magic number for Alabama for me has been 45. I think Kentucky got a little confidence last week though, and may be able to sneak a score or two.
Bowling Green 10
Mississippi State 34
Mississippi State gets back on track against the MAC. Flows nice doesn't it?
(9) Texas A&M 42
Ole Miss 31
I don't think Bo Wallace and the Rebels can keep up with Johnny Football. They will score points, though.
After last week, I'm at a solid 43-9 with my picks. Be sure to follow me on twitter @griffaldo and share this bad boy on Facebook! Thanks for the read!
