New Year's Day Bowl Picks

After having my first perfect day of picks to ring in the New Year, my grand total for this Bowl Season is 15-8. Not bad. Let's see if I can continue this success for New Year's Day:

Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl
Jacksonville, Florida
Everbank Field
Today 12:00
Nebraska vs. (22) Georgia

The pick: Georgia 27 Nebraska 20

Georgia will have to be able to contain Nebraska Running Back Ameer Abdullah. Abdullah is the Husker offense, and the Bulldogs will be up to the task, even without Aaron Murray.

Heart of Dallas Bowl
Dallas, Texas
Cotton Bowl Stadium
Today 12:00
UNLV vs. North Texas

The pick: North Texas 21 UNLV 20

Mean Green baby, Mean Green.

Outback Bowl
Tampa, Florida
Raymond James Stadium
Today 1:00
Iowa vs. (16) LSU

The pick: LSU 28 Iowa 13

Even without starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger, the Tigers will be able to beat Iowa in a very physical Outback Bowl. Let's see if it can live up to last year's.

Capital One Bowl
Orlando, Florida
Florida Citrus Bowl Satdium
Today 1:00
(19) Wisconsin vs. (9) South Carolina

The pick: South Carolina 31 Wisconsin 27

South Carolina will have a little trouble against a different-looking Wisconsin offense, but they will recover. There's no way I'm picking against Connor Shaw.

Rose Bowl
Pasadena, California
Rose Bowl Stadium
Today 5:00
(5) Stanford vs. (4) Michigan State

The pick: Michigan State 31 Stanford 30

This game is going to the most physical game we see this bowl season, outside of the National Championship. Michigan State is the more complete team and will find a way to win this game in the end.

Tostitos' Fiesta Bowl
Glendale, Arizona
University of Phoenix Stadium
Tonight 8:30
(15) Central Florida vs. (6) Baylor

The pick: Baylor 42 Central Florida 35

Nothing short of a score-fest, as this one will be a track meet from the start. Both quarterbacks have a lot of NFL-stock riding on this game.
