2014 College Baseball Picks

It's almost time for first pitch in college baseball. Here's a quick pick of who is going to win each conference:

American Athletic: Louisville

The Cardinals retain a pitching staff that took them all the way to the College World Series last season.

America East: Binghampton

The Bearcats won the conference last season. Expect another big year from OF Jake Thomas.

Atlantic 10: Saint Louis

The Billikens line-up is filled with veterans that will produce.

ACC: North Carolina State

Carlos Rodon is the top pitching prospect in the country. This along with a solid line-up has "winning" written all over it.

Atlantic Sun: Mercer

The Mercer bears return all three weekend starters this season. This, along with seven players returning to the line-up will be a seasoned team that will be tough to beat.

Big 12: Baylor

The Bears will have to hold off a young, yet talented Texas team to win the conference.

Big East: Creighton

Creighton will be a tough team to beat as they return a lot of veterans. This team has made regionals appearances two years straight.

Big South: Liberty

The Flames made noise in the Columbia Regional last year, and I expect them to claw their way to another NCAA-appearance.

Big 10: Indiana

The Hoosiers made a run to Omaha last season and will try to replicate that performance this year.

Big West: Cal-State Fullerton

The Titans are loaded again this season.

Colonial Athletic Association: UNC-Wilmington

The Seahawks are considered to be a sleeper pick by many writers.

Conference USA: East Carolina

The Pirates will have to hold off Rice. They have the second best pitching prospect in the country in Jeff Hoffman.

Horizon League: Wisconsin-Milwaukee

The Panthers return the most solid line-up, but this conference is honestly up for grabs.

Ivy League: Columbia

The Lions snuck into the Fullerton Regional last year and defeated New Mexico. They shouldn't have much of a problem winning the conference this season.

Metro Atlantic Athletic: Canisius

How can a blog called "Griffin's Starting Lineup" not pick a team that has the mascot "Golden Griffins?" Oh yeah, the Golden Griffins are also the pre-season MAAC favorite.

Mid-American: Kent State

The Flashes will repeat as the MAC Champs again this season. They open with a tough series at Arizona.

Mid-Eastern Athletic: Delaware State

The Hornets boast a very fast, productive offense that dominated the MEAC last season.

Missouri Valley: Wichita State

The Shockers have always been relevant in baseball, and this year will be no different.

Mountain West: Fresno State

This pick is a wildcard pick, but I think the Bulldogs have one the most talented young teams in the whole country.

Northeast: Bryant

Pitching wins championships. Bryant has the deepest rotation in the conference.

Ohio Valley: Tennessee Tech

Tech sports the an explosive offensive that will dwarf the rest of the conference.

PAC-12: Oregon State

The Beavers come into 2014 with an amazing amount of depth. They will make a deep run.

Patriot League: Army

The Golden Knights will earn the regional spot for this conference.

SEC: South Carolina

Call me biased, but South Carolina has the most balanced team in the conference. This conference (specifically the East) will be a race to the finish.

Southern: Western Carolina

The Catamounts will finish what they started in 2013.

Southland: Southeastern Louisiana

The Lions feature an underrated pitching staff that will catch the Southland Conference by surprise.

SWAC: Jackson State

Jackson State is by far the fastest team in the SWAC, but they will have to be able to tame Alabama State.

Summit League: North Dakota State

The Bison will run away with the Summit League this season.

Sun Belt: Louisiana-Lafayette

The Cajuns are the clear favorite in the Sun Belt and should take the conference with ease.

West Coast: San Francisco

San Fran brings back a lot of talent and is my pick to win the conference. They will have to get by San Diego to do so.

WAC: Grand Canyon

A move up into Division I, this team will shock the WAC this season if it can get by Sacramento State.
