After going two out of three on Opening Day, I went 4-0 on my next four bets. Last night however, Adrian Gonzalez decided he wanted to hit three bombs against Andrew Cashner, making the two San Diego picks my only two blemishes so far this season. With a busy schedule for Major League Baseball today, here's my picks:
New York Mets (+1.5) versus Washington Nationals
Matt Harvey squares off against Stephen Strasburg in a fantastic pitcher's duel. I like Harvey in a nice bounce-back performance after being injured all of last season. Harvey's had electric stuff all Spring, and he'll be able to keep this game tight enough to take the +1.5 run line.
Houston Astros (+1.5) versus Cleveland Indians
The Astros lineup will be able to knock Trevor Bauer around. I'm really intrigued by the Astros' rookie right-hander Asher Wojciechowski, who'll be making his Major League debut today. Wojciechowski has had great stuff this spring, earning him that fifth spot in the Astros' rotation. He's a big pitcher (6'4" 235 lbs.), and today's debut against the Indians should be an interesting game to follow.
San Francisco Giants (+1.5) versus San Diego Padres
Tim Hudson squares off against Ian Kennedy in San Diego this evening. San Diego's Petco Park generally favors pitching, and Tim Hudson will be the better pitcher tonight.
