Griff's Picks: May 2

Yesterday was a rough day for my picks, but as most of the people who'll read this post know, Major League Baseball is as unpredictable as it gets. Let's try to right the ship with these picks for May 2: (run lines from SportsPlays.com)

Chicago White Sox (+1.5) vs. Minnesota Twins

Hector Noesi faces off against Ricky Nolasco at Target Field Saturday, and honestly the Twins being favorites raised a red flag for me. Nolasco is coming off of a rehab start Sunday, after coming off the DL. White Sox' hitters have found a lot of success against Nolasco, and Saturday won't be any different.

St. Louis Cardinals (-1.5) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

I'm going with the favored Cardinals due to their offensive success against Francisco Liriano. If you're looking for Daily Fantasy (DFS) options check out Jhonny Peralta and Matt Holliday. Liriano and Lackey are both coming off of quality starts, and the Pirates haven't allowed a home run in nine games, which is the longest streak since May of 1991.

Washington Nationals (-1.5) vs. New York Mets

Gio Gonzalez is 5-1 in eight starts at Citi Field, and even with the slow start, it's inevitable that the Nationals are going to get to start stringing together wins. Bryce Harper's 32 strikeouts have come as a result of him watching more pitches, as he's also walked significantly more than any other hitter in the Majors. After the first month, his name is definitely one that has to be thrown into the National League MVP discussion.
