Griff's Picks: May Fourth

Here's my picks for Monday, May 4: (run lines from SportsPlays.com)

Tampa Bay Rays (+1.5) vs. Boston Red Sox

Jake Odorizzi has found success against the Red Sox early on this season, however, the reason I would take this bet is that Clay Buchholz is on the hill for the Red Sox. Buchholz has been up-and-down this season, and I'm betting Odorizzi is the more consistent pitcher on Monday.

San Diego Padres (+1.5) San Francisco Giants

Monday will be the first time in three starts that Madison Bumgarner won't be facing off against Los Angeles Dodgers' ace Clayton Kershaw. Picking against Bumgarner might seem farfetched, but the Giants' number one has had a tough start this season. The Padres' offense has found success against Bumgarner, and I'm taking them as dogs in this matchup.

Colorado Rockies (-1.5) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Josh Collmenter takes the mound for Arizona, and he's been terrific in his last three starts. That being said, he's struggled historically against the Rockies' lineup. This game takes place at the very hitter-friendly Coors Field, where the altitude tends to help hard-hit balls. This game has the highest over/under on SportsPlays.com at 10 runs, and I agree that there will be plenty of scoring for Colorado to cover as favorites.
