Griff's MLB Picks: Sunday, 9/6

Here are my MLB picks for Sunday, September 6: (run lines from SportsPlays.com)

Tampa Bay Rays (-1.5) vs. New York Yankees

The Rays send a red-hot Chris Archer to the hill to face the Yankees' Ivan Nova. Archer has been awesome in his last three starts, going 2-1 with a 1.71 ERA and 29 strikeouts. The Rays will get the offensive support, as Ivan Nova has been shelled in his last three starts that's caused him to lose three consecutive decisions while posting an ERA over seven.

Washington Nationals (-1.5) vs. Atlanta Braves

The Braves have seemed to forgotten that the regular season doesn't end until next month, as they've lost 21 of their last 24 games. Yes, you read that right, 21 OF THE LAST 24. The Braves continue to plummet, and I like the Nationals behind the arm of young righty Joe Ross.

Texas Rangers (+1.5) vs. Los Angeles Angels

The Rangers will try to create some protection by beating the Angels, as a win would put them 3.5 games in front of their AL West rivals and guarantee them at least a game lead over Minnesota Twins for the second wildcard spot in the American League. This game will have Texas' Colby Lewis face Angels' lefty Hector Santiago. While Lewis has only been victorious in one of his last three starts, he's been a better arm than Santiago, who's allowed 14 earned runs in his last three starts.
