Weekend Strikeout: Sunday Edition

Sunday presented us with a great finish to this weekend's college baseball action. Here's what stuck out to me:

Strike One: "Sunday Fun-day" at the plate

Six teams scored 20 runs or more in Sunday's games. The biggest offensive production came in the game between Murray State and Northern Illinois. Murray State was able to defeat the Huskies, 29-16. The Racers hit six home runs, and Huskies' pitching hit five Murray State batters. Murray State had four players in their lineup that drove in at least four runs each.

Strike Two: The Decline of Indiana

The Hoosiers had a very disappointing weekend and were swept by Cal State Fullerton. The series' sweep drops Indiana to a meager 1-5 record, putting a NCAA Tournament appearance in early jeopardy. The Hoosiers have appeared in three-straight tournaments since 2013.

Strike Three: UNC Completes the Sweep

North Carolina defeated Oklahoma State 4-3 Sunday after Eli Sutherland hit a clutch, one-out single that drove in both the tying and winning runs. The series' sweep will surely drop Oklahoma State in the polls, and the Tar Heels have now won consecutive series over ranked opponents.
