Welcome to our week eight picks! Trying to rebound from a crazy week seven, but I'm still on pace to be well above .500 on the season. Here's the tally so far:
Week Seven Picks: 6-4
2021 Record through Week Seven: 54-21
Let's get right into the picks, shall we?
Arkansas-Pine Bluff @ Arkansas (No line)
Arkansas comes into this game after losing for three weeks in a row. There's no betting line for this game, and there's a reason for that.
The Pick: Arkansas 52 Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3
LSU @ #12 Ole Miss (-9)
Lane Kiffin's Rebels host a LSU team that's coming off of a big home win against a ranked Florida. LSU officials announced this week that Ed Orgeron will not be coaching the Tigers in 2022. I'm not sure what to make of that, nor do I know how it will factor into this game. Ole Miss will score too many points for LSU to keep up with, but I do see this game being closer than the oddsmakers think.
The Pick: Ole Miss 34 LSU 27
Mississippi State (-20.5) @ Vanderbilt
This game won't mark the first time there's been a cowbell or two in Nashville. Vanderbilt is coming off of its most impressive performance of the 2021 season, and the Commodores were almost able to escape Williams-Brice Stadium with a win against South Carolina in week seven. That being said, the Bulldogs will be a much tougher task for the Vandy defense.
The Pick: Mississippi State 38 Vanderbilt 13
Tennessee @ #4 Alabama (-25)
The Vols brought the house last week when Tennessee hosted Ole Miss, including a bottle of mustard and a golf ball, which were used by fans to express their discontent with SEC officiating. Alabama looked focused in a big win against Mississippi State. I just don't see Tennessee pulling off the upset in Tuscaloosa, and even though this is a "rivalry," this contest hasn't been exactly close in recent memory.
The Pick: Alabama 38 Tennessee 20
South Carolina @ #17 Texas A&M (-19.5)
South Carolina has yet to beat Texas A&M in football since the Aggies became the Gamecocks permanent foe from the SEC West. South Carolina will have to pull out all the tricks to give itself a chance in this game, as Texas A&M plays very physical up front on both sides of the ball. I don't see it happening for Shane Beamer's group this season against the Aggies.
The Pick: Texas A&M 35 South Carolina 23
Plus 3 Games:
#10 Oregon 28 UCLA 23
#23 Pittsburgh 23 Clemson 21
#8 Oklahoma State 35 Iowa State 31
