Week 6 picks record: 7-3
2021 Record: 48-17
Last week was our worst so far, but 48-17 on the year isn't too terrible. Let's get into this week's picks:
Auburn @ #17 Arkansas (-4.5)
Arkansas has felt the agony of defeat the last two weeks. The Razorbacks defense will force Bo Nix (or whoever ends up at QB for Auburn) into some mistakes late in the game.
The pick: Arkansas 34 Auburn 27
#20 Florida (-11.5) @ LSU
LSU will have to find some creative ways to generate offense and score points, if the Tigers want to stick around in this game. Florida does not lack resources on offense to produce a lot of points, and the Gators are athletic enough on defense to make this a long night in Baton Rouge for the LSU faithful.
The pick: Florida 35 LSU 17
#21 Texas A&M (-8.5) @ Missouri
In a battle of the SEC's newest members (for now), Texas A&M might have to stumble through this matchup with an upset hangover. Luckily for the Aggies, opposing offenses have averaged just under 500 yards per game against the Missouri defense.
The pick: Texas A&M 41 Missouri 27
#11 Kentucky @ #1 Georgia (-21.5)
I have to be honest. It felt a little weird writing "#1" next to "Georgia." The Bulldogs absolutely can not let off the gas at this spot in the 2021 schedule. Kentucky comes into Athens unbeaten, and Mark Stoops' Wildcats are quietly putting together a very special season. I expect to see Stoops' name as a finalist for SEC Coach of the Year at the end of the season, but Georgia will make a couple plays in this game that will legitimize the Bulldogs' case to end the 2021 season as National Champions.
The pick: Georgia 24 Kentucky 16
Vanderbilt @ South Carolina (-18)
Both of these teams really need a win in this game. Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks just need a lot more at this point of the season.
The pick: South Carolina 30 Vanderbilt 13
#5 Alabama (-17) @ Mississippi State
If there was one week of the season that I would not want to play Nick Saban and Alabama, the week after an upset loss would be at the top of the list.
The pick: Alabama 38 Mississippi 20
#13 Ole Miss (-2.5) @ Tennessee
I really think Josh Heupel and Tennessee have turned a big corner, and the Vols offense might propel this team to a top 25 finish. Give me Tennessee as an upset special, as Knoxville finally gets some sweet revenge on the Lane Kiffin era.
The pick: Tennessee 35 Ole Miss 31
Plus Three Games:
#25 Texas 24 #12 Oklahoma State 21
Clemson 21 Syracuse 10
#3 Cincinnati 34 UCF 23
As always, thanks for reading!
