May 2012 MLB "All-Chump" Team

19 May 2012 MLB "All-Chump" Team

So its time to unveil the MLB "All-Chump" team. A guideline I used for the "All-Chump" team was that the player has to start regularly. So with out further a due, here are your "All-Chumps."

Catcher

Geovany Soto - Chicago Cubs

The 2008 NL Rookie of the Year has hit a dissappointing .161 which is the lowest among regular starting catchers. He also is tied for the second most errors among catchers with 4 errors. The only person with more is San Francisco's Buster Posey. He's allowed the second most stolen bases with 27, which is also the number of games he's started.

First Base

Ike Davis - New York Mets

Davis has struggled at the plate this year with a .164 average. He's struck out 38 times this year, and he's already commited 3 errors. On a lighter note, he does have more homeruns than Albert Pujols.

Second Base

Rickie Weeks - Milwaukee Brewers

Weeks is only hitting .159 and is the 25th out of 26th among second basemen with 100+ plate appearances. He's commited 4 errors. Dan Uggla and Kelly Johnson lead the second basemen with 6 each.

Short Stop

Brendan Ryan - Seattle Mariners

Ryan gives the Mariners a great glove ,but his bat has been wretched throught his career. This year he's not even hitting his weight at .150. His strike out average is 100 points better than his batting average.

Third Base

Pedro Alvarez - Pittsburgh Pirates

Alvarez has 8 errors, which is more than any other third basemen by 2. He's hitting a mere .216. Only Ian Stewart and Brent Morel have worse batting averages among third basemen with 100+ plate appearances.

Left Field

J.D. Martinez - Houston Astros

Martinez is hitting .218, which is the worst among left fielders with 100+ at bats. Left field was a tough selection for the "All-Chumps" team. One good thing Martinez has been very good at is drawing walks. He has 20 walks, only 6 less than his number of hits (26).

Center Field

Cameron Maybin - San Diego Padres

Maybin has commited 4 errors, which is the worst among center fielders. He's a hitting measely .207, which is only topped by Colby Rasmus' .203 average.

Right Field

Jose Tabata - Pittsburgh Pirates

Right field was also a very tough choice. Tabata has hit a very mediocre .235 ,and he's just been kind of "chumpy" this year.

Starting Pitcher

Chris Volstad - Chicago Cubs

Volstad has had a rough year to put it nicely. He's 0-6 thus far, and he's got a wopping ERA of 7.46. Clay Buchholz has the only worse ERA with 7.77.

Relief Pitcher

Heath Bell - Miami Marlins

Bell is tied for the league lead with 4 blown saves. He's got a devestating 8.56 ERA, and he's bolstering a staggering 2.20 WHIP.

So there you have my 2012 early year "All-Chump" team. As always, I hope you enjoyed the blog. Please feel free to email me: JCGriffin13@yahoo.com or follow/tweet on twitter @griffaldo.
