So here we are on the eve of the 2014 NFL Draft, and there still seems to be a lot of questions that need to be answered by the picks that will be made tomorrow. One thing that's absolutely for certain is that none of these mock drafts that you read will be 100% correct. Hopefully, this mock will at least come somewhat close to what we'll actually see tomorrow night. So let's make some picks:
1. Houston Texans
Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
There are a couple of teams that are scratching their heads right now trying to find a solution that will allow them to trade up and get Clowney. One of those teams is the Atlanta Falcons. I do not see the Falcons having enough to give to the Texans to trade this pick. Players that have the amount of talent that Clowney has are one-in-a-milllion, and the Texans can't give that up.
2. St. Louis Rams
Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
Robinson is considered to be the best talent at offensive tackle in this draft. The Rams aren't quite ready to give up on Sam Bradford yet, and they shouldn't be. This will be a great investment to protect Bradford and hopefully give him time to make plays.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars
Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
This pick will depend on if the Jaguars want to make a deep investment into Manziel. I've been reading more and more about the Jacksonville's interests in Manziel, and the more thinking I do, the more this pick seems to make sense.
4. Cleveland Browns
Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
The Browns will take the most talented player remaining on the board with this pick. Adding Watkins will create another dynamic threat to add alongside Josh Gordon. The Browns also have the luxury of another first round pick.
5. Oakland Raiders
Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo
I think the urgency to minimize risk in this draft is rampant for the Raiders. They are going to have to take somebody that will be able to make a splash early, but this first pick has got to be the sure thing. Khalil Mack is a talented player, who will blossom nicely. If the Raiders aren't sure with this pick, they should select an offensive lineman.
6. Atlanta Falcons
Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
It will be interesting to see what Atlanta will try to potentially bid to move up and grab Clowney. I wouldn't be shocked if the Falcons went with somebody defensively here. It also wouldn't surprise me if they grabbed a talented pass catcher here.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
If the Bucs are excited about this guy, they will take him. There's been plenty of rumors that Tampa Bay is shopping current quarterback Mike Glennon around. If the Bucs select a quarterback with this pick, they will certainly need to find him someone to throw to with their next.
8. Minnesota Vikings
C.J. Moseley, LB, Alabama
If the Vikings like Teddy Bridgewater, here's where he goes. Otherwise, Bridgewater will slip out of the first round. The Vikings shouldn't waste this pick, and picking up Moseley will surely strengthen the Vikings' defense.
9. Buffalo Bills
Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
The Bills need to select someone that will help protect E.J. Manuel. Lewan fits the bill pretty well.
10. Detroit Lions
Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
The Lions have some needs that they need to tend to on defense, but if Evans is on the board, he would be a great selection. This would add a big receiver that can attract some attention away from superstar Calvin Johnson.
11. Tennessee Titans
Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA
Barr will prove to be a solid edge rusher at the next level. Tennessee's 3-4 could certainly use it. It will be interesting to see if the Titans address the departure of Chris Johnson in this draft.
12. New York Giants
Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
The Giants have a lot of needs to address in this draft. Finding Eli Manning a security blanket would help an offense that had a difficult time doing just about anything last season. Ebron is the best tight end in this year draft, no doubt.
13. St. Louis Rams
Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU
Beckham has been overshadowed in this draft by Mike Evan and Sammy Watkins, but don't think that he's not going to be able to immediately contribute. This guy is electric and would provide Sam Bradford an excellent target.
14. Chicago Bears
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama
The Bears need to revitalize their defense with some good picks in the first round. Clinton-Dix is going to a good NFL safety and has seen a lot of good players while playing at Alabama.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers
Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
The Steelers might not take this particular defensive back, but if the draft works out anything like the scenario we have here, this pick will be spent on a defensive back.
16. Dallas Cowboys (coin flip)
Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville
The Cowboys certainly need some help in the secondary, and Pryor would be able to immediately fill that void. The Cowboys and Ravens will flip a coin to see who gets the first pick between them.
17. Baltimore Ravens (coin flip)
Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State
The Ravens have added Steve Smith in free agency, and they could put themselves on the map as being the biggest vertical threat out of any offense in the NFL. Cooks is a speedster and finds the ball in space very well.
18. New York Jets
Marqise Lee, WR, Southern California
The Jets will take advantage of this receiver-heavy draft. This will give Gino Smith/Michael Vick another threat along with Eric Decker.
19. Miami Dolphins
Zack Martin, OL, Notre Dame
Martin is perhaps the most versatile lineman in this year's draft. The Dolphins are going to need somebody up front, and offensive line will be a top priority this year.
20. Arizona Cardinals
Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio State
Shazier will help add some depth to the Cardinals' linebacker corps. If there's a weak spot in Arizona's defense, it's at linebacker. Shazier is an athletic specimen that finds his way to the ball.
21. Green Bay Packers
Chris Borland, LB, Wisconsin
With the second consecutive Big 10 linebacker coming off the board, Borland will help the Packers interior needs on defense.
22. Philadelphia Eagles
Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
I'd be very surprised if Dennard actually fell this far, but the Eagles will have to find some help in their secondary in this first round. Dennard and Gilbert and by far the two best corners in the draft.
23. Kansas City Chiefs
Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State
Benjamin is a big target that will alleviate pressure off of Dwayne Bowe. This would be a great target for Alex Smith to have and will strengthen the Kansas City offense.
24. Cincinnati Bengals
Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
The Bengals need to do something to upgrade their defense. Donald is the best player remaining on the board in this scenario and would be a nice addition to the Bengals' defensive front.
25. San Diego Chargers
Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
The Chargers will either address needs in their secondary or off the edge. Fuller's stock has risen very high over the last couple weeks.
26. Cleveland Browns
Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
The Browns like Derek Carr. If they grab Watkins with their first pick, they can be confident in Carr to get the ball to him.
27. New Orleans Saints
Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
The Saints can be very flexible with this pick. Why not get Drew Brees another weapon?
28. Carolina Panthers
Bruce Ellington, WR, South Carolina
The Panthers need to give Cam Newton a couple targets in this year's draft. Ellington's stock has risen quickly over the past few weeks. This could be a nice fit.
29. New England Patriots
Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech
Amaro fits the mold of Aaron Hernandez as a football player. Bill Belichick would love to get back to his old offensive scheme. The Pats could also use this pick to replace an aging Vince Wilfork, who has been so dominant for them over the years.
30. San Francisco 49ers
Louis Nix III, DT, Notre Dame
The 49ers can be very flexible with their first pick, like the Saints. Nix will be a nice interior threat that will clog holes against opposing team's rushing attacks.
31. Denver Broncos
Bradley Roby, DB, Ohio State
Roby will be a nice addition to a Broncos' defense that lacks some talent at corner. Again, this is a very flexible pick, and the Broncos could go pretty much whatever direction they'd like to go.
32. Seattle Seahawks
Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
Seattle will look to restock it's team after winning the Super Bowl last year. Offensive line is one place they could use some help, and Moses will certainly fit the mold.
